Adventures in Lace!

What a wonderful response!  I never thought there would be ten people involved in the Adventures in Lace Knit Along!  Thanks, Jenn, for coming up with the name!  It sure beats "The great Lace-Along of 2010"!!

I've made some buttons that can be found in the right column.  Just click on the button you want and you can just cut and paste the html directly from photobucket.  If anyone has color preferences other than that, let me know.  It wont take any time at all to change the text color.

Here's a list of your fellow Knit-Alongers:
Implausible Yarn
Jenn's Spot
Abby's Knits
Jenny's blog on knitting
Cloudberry
Handmade at Home
orange cat knits
Dropped Stitches
Maiden Jane
Lazy Kate Creates

Now, into the rules.  You want rules?  How about this:

1.  You can use any pattern.
2.  You can use any yarn you wish.
3.  You must have fun.
4.  Anyone can join at anytime- there are no deadlines.
5.  There are no more rules.

How does that sound for ridged and unforgiving?!  I think we should have fun, encourage one another and see just how different lace can be when using a variety of patterns and weights of yarn!  I also think it will be an opportunity to get to know each other better.

What should be our start date?  What do you all think would be a good?  When can you start?  I know that it takes time to get the right pattern and yarn combination!  I'll just pick the latest date as the start and then- let the games begin!  I am so so excited to see what all of you knit!  This is going to be so much fun!

I'm glad I'm on the list! Someone mentioned Feb - that might be good. When are the Olympics? I've never done the Ravelympics and don't want to be too pressured by a deadline, but maybe we can start when they start?

Also, anyone want to list some suggestions for beginners? The only lace I've knit is a feather and fan stole. I'm currently working on Damson, which isn't lace. I'm interested in something more scarf-like. Or maybe I'll try one of Anne Hanson's (knitspot) neck thingys. (I'm so tired right now I can't think what they are called.)

Anyway, I'm excited and I'll keep my eyes open for ideas!

This is going to be exciting. Great buttons! I like the idea of sometime in February, you could have about 3 weeks to find a pattern and yarn and needles?

I can start anytime, I'm sort of only knitting lace this year anyway :) But February sounds like a good plan, maybe I can finish one of the shawls I'm working on now before then.

And I love the buttons, I'll add the green one right now :)

feb sounds good for me, i've got my yarn but need to find a pattern! we should maybe set up a flickr group to post pics as we knit?

I agree...February is good. I already have my yarn and pattern (the juliet scarf in knitting little luxuries) but not starting till Feb will give me a chance to finish up some WIPs.

YEA!

I so thought that I had left a comment on your initial post about wanting to join, but apparently I didn't. I think I'm going crazy. :)

Can I still be added to the list?

Hi Kate! I'd like to join your knit-along, it sounds so fun. I'm a feather and fan girl, so this will motivate me to try new lace patterns. February sounds good to me, too. Thanks!

I have my yarn ready to go- I just need to pick a pattern and get needles. I was going to say February, also, either the start or the middle. I'll post about this on my blog and see if maybe I can grab any more participants. I'm excited! I've never been interested in doing a knit a long before, but this one sounds great. I've always loved really really strict rules, so this is right up my alley! ;-)

Lacealong! Thanks for organizing this, Kate! I agree that February would be a good start time. The 1st would be nice round number, so to speak. Ravelympics doesn't start until the 12th, if anyone is doing that also, so there wouldn't be a startup conflict that way. I also think a flickr pool would be neat!

This will be fun!!
I'm not sure what pattern I'll knit yet - there is so many beautiful shawls out there. Hard to choose ;)

February works for me. It will give me time to find a nice lace pattern that I must knit and knit well for all of my knitty friends. Excited ot start!

Can I join the KAL as well please? :) I need some lace motivation - my last lace project got this <-> close to the finish line and then I realised I'd screwed up the pattern repeats at the very beginning of the project (which was about 11 month ago....I'm slow.....!!!), which was majorly depressing. So, I definitely think something like this would be good for my motivation! February start sounds perfect to me, I'm going to get thinking about what to make :)

Is there still space to join the KAL? I'd love to learn to do lace :)

Can I join in too, I started last night with homespun alpaca on the Liquid Silver pattern (no beads, too small).

Hello everyone. I have been on the computer for a couple of hours now looking for a knit-along group I would like to join. I have never done this before.(That is - never been in a kal group). Lace intimidates me a little so this group seems so perfect. Please can I play too? Will you be posting the start date and how this works? I Look forward to starting the project. Twigg
