100th Post! and a Giveaway!

IMG_0063
I can't even believe that this is my 100th post.  It feels like just yesterday that I signed up for a blog, nervous as can be, and posted an entry of one picture and two sentences.  Blogging has become such a fun and rewarding part of my life.  I love the fact that I get to document the things that are important to me, and that I have a record of what has been going on in my life.  I don't think I've ever stuck with a journal for more than 3 entries.  I always have the best intentions every time to keep a journal that it will be for the rest of my life, but it never really works out.
IMG_0057
I'm really proud of myself for sticking with this.   I think the main reason I've been a faithful blogger is you!  I love the feedback I get, the encouragement, the "aw that sucks!"  when I've had a bad day.  This blog has made me feel like a part of a community.  It has really been such an inspiration in my life.  I'm going to get sappy here- you all have changed my life and I'm not even kidding!  When I say blogging, I don't just mean the act of writing and pressing the send button.  I mean the act of being involved in your lives, and you in mine.  I love that I suggested a knit-along and people said yes when I thought that everyone would ignore the idea!  Thank you so much for hanging out and reading my little rants about winter, my neighbor's christmas decorations, winter and the lack of light created by winter. (I've really been a whiney bear about this whole winter thing.  I apologize.)
IMG_0020
I'm so excited to host another giveaway!  I really, really like to give stuff away, if you haven't noticed already.  I just think it's so much fun to give back to people who make my life a whole lot brighter!  So this time I've decided to give something extra special away- my handspun.  Three skeins of it!  A skein of three ply, a mini skein of Spunky Eclectic superwash bfl, and a skein of natural corriedale.  They are all so yummy, I'm a little sad to be giving them away!  The only thing that consoles me is that I'm sure they will go to a good home!

"What do I have to do to enter", I'm sure you are wondering. Well, there are a few ways that you can be entered into the drawing.
  • First, leave a comment. Just say hello and tell me what you like or dislike about the blog, what you would like to see more or less of, anything constructive, really.  There's your first entry!
  • To be entered in the drawing for a second time, follow the blog. If you are already following, leave me a comment telling me.  How's that for easy-peasy?!
  • Lastly, if you want to be entered a third time, blog about my little giveaway. Once you've blogged about it, come back and tell me.  Simple enough, right?
I'll close the comments on Sunday morning, and will pick the winner by a random number generator on Sunday evening.  Good luck to all of you!  Again, thanks so much for reading!  I've had a blast with the first 100 posts, and can't wait for 100 more!

  1. Congratulations on the 100th! Isn't it unbelievable how fast it goes! And your blog is really wonderful, i always get a kick out of reading it. Even if you have a bad day, then it feels so good to be able to at least leave a little comment and cheer you on.

I've been a follower for quite some time, and I'll definitely write about your give-away when I blog next time (which I think will be tomorrow). I'll come back here and tell you when I've done it.

I'm not sure about what I would like to see more about, I really love the blog as it is. Although I'm guessing there will be some more wedding-related posts further on, and I can't wait for those!

    Hugs / Jenny

  34. I can't quite remember how I found you, but I'm so glad that I did. I love seeing your projects, which are often far superior to mine, even though I've been knitting longer than you've been alive. Yikes! Love your humor too. I really do feel like we could sit down and have a nice cup of tea together.

Your yarn is gorgeous, but don't enter me in the drawing. I've been very naughty lately, and my stash is bulging at the seams!!

  38. Congrats on 100 posts! I agree about the community aspect of blogging. I read loads of blogs, knitting and otherwise, and have for years and have only recently started commenting on the knitting ones (and only the knitting ones...) and it's great finally feeling like part of the community.

One random thing I liked was a few posts back you posted a playlist! How fun! I clicked through and registered at playlist.com and I'm working up a list of my own to blog soon, I hope.

  42. Hi Kate--and first congratulations on 100 posts! I can't imagine...and just starting into blogging, that number seems very far away for me! I love your description of the first one--mercy, I can identify clearly with that "first one" gittery feeling! So now I have a whole 3 and the gitter has turned to excitement. I'm still amazed at the vast web of folks sharing life, knitting, creativity, and concerns....it's very easy to get lost in the blogspot surfing! Thanks for being here with great thoughts and inspiration!

  43. Oh--almost forgot--I started following your blog yesterday, and when I post again tomorrow, I'll add some "nods" to your blog and give-away :) Take care!

  114. Hey Kate! I love your handspun. As I'm trying out my handspun again, I really appreciate how hard it is to do well, and that stuff looks absolutely beautiful!
As far as your blog, I have no complaints; I really love what you write about almost all the time and I always read and I especially love how encouraging and nurturing you are to other bloggers I don't know how you have time for it, but it's great!
Also, just so you know, I do subscribe, though not through the little subscribey button (through NewsFire), and I also wrote about you just now on my blog. I would say good luck, but it looks like you have quite a few comments already and don't really need the luck! Have a great weekend!

  124. This is the first blog that I am going to explore and I am looking forward to it. I am very excited. I don't knit but I am not a domestic goddess, I love to craft and cook so I think there will be lots to get excited about. Thank you.

  125. I am excited about your giveaway. I have a friend who loves to knit and crochet and loves wool even more. Like me she just lost her mom so if I win this it would be so wonderful to give her the wool as a surprise. We need just because surprises these days to brighten up our days. Have a wonderful day. Thans. Keeping all my digits crossed that I win. :)

  131. Congratulations on your 100th post this old granny hopes to see near that age (turning 50 in JUNE YEAH BABY)
being disabled and unemployable the only new yarn I get is when one of my hats sell
So I do my best to get the word out...right now just knitting a couple baby surprise sweater layettes for a friend of my youngest daughter she knits too (momma taught her)this is a big year for her as she will be 21 she's making her granny happy by knitting her a scarf to match the hat I already made for my mom....I don't have patience or money to spin but a friend of mine spun me three balls of yarn that I hope to make into something special for someone for Christmas.
Well congratulations again on your 100th post and may you have many many years of doing all the things you enjoy most!
