I celebrated my 28th birthday! We had homemade waffles, balsamic roasted strawberries and homemade juice made of apple, lime, ginger, carrot and beets!

I've started canning- making pickles and jams and butters and marmalades- oh my! My favorites so far have been a strawberry rhubarb butter and a key lime and ginger syrup!

My best friends mom rescued a baby squirrel from the side of the road. If you knew her, you wouldn't be surprised. She's a wonderful mother hen. I really, really love her.

There have been a ton of deer around our house. They aren't afraid of anything. I can go outside and have conversations with a group of them standing twenty feet away, and they just look at me like I'm crazy and go back to grazing.

I went to the Fiber Frolic- what do you think of my attempt to "frolic"? I really suck....

The landscape here on the coast of Maine is beautiful right now! The skies are blue, the leaves are green and the water still cold, but really lovely and clear!

Looks like you've been thoroughly enjoying life!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been super busy having lots of fun! Happy birthday! You are the same age as my daughter. Hooray for canning...what types of butter did you do? I love getting new ideas.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable frolicking, Kate. Happy birthday! How fun that you get to chat with groups of deer ... I would love that. Maine is looking gorgeous and green.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday - glad it was such a good one
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, Kate! And your frolic looks just fine!
ReplyDeleteBirthday wishes and lovely photos. Wishing you a grand summer. We have a local fiber fest - I attended and took a spinning class. I still stink.
ReplyDeleteOh my. That is one pregnant deer.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
You definitely got your frolic on.
And baby squirrels are about the cutest things ever.
Belated happy birthday. I was very interested in your juice combo. My daughter and I used our juicer today for the first time in ages, and we were pretty happy with the result. We used beets too, but I'm thinking the lime and ginger sound like great additions.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! And what a yummy breakfast!
ReplyDeleteYou've been gone for a very long time.
